The wise men gift

This weekend is celebrated in all Christian countries the arrival of the wise men from the east. January 6 has been determined as the day of celebration of their arrival to meet the newborn messiah and the gifts they brought him; but what was the real gift of the wise men?

The three wise men were popularly called this way because of their knowledge in astrology and science that allowed them to understand and explain some atmospheric and natural phenomena. Their names according to some writings were Melchior, who was of European origin and carried the myrrh, Balthazar of Babylon who carried the gold and Gaspar of Persia who carried the incense.

In their position as wise men and scholars they knew the prophecy of the Messiah (Isaiah 7:14), of the star of the east (Num 24:15-17) and that he would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2). Therefore, all three knew whom they were going to meet, were prepared to bring what each one needed to present to the newborn King and were going to go the necessary way to meet Him and prostrate themselves before Him.

Therefore, these are the true gifts that the wise men left us:

1. Study the scriptures: You have to read one verse, one chapter at a time and ask Jesus in prayer to reveal to you what he wants to teach you.

2. Put Jesus in the position of the King: He is King and we are His servants and as servants we fulfill what He orders us to do.

3. Each one must prepare and be ready to give Jesus what He needs from us: Jesus will show you what He needs you to give Him, surely it is your greatest treasure and it is very valuable to you.

4. We must all walk the necessary path to meet Jesus: Jesus is the path, one step at a time, one day at a time; we do it as a sign of obedience, adoration and love. He will tell you which way to go.

The wise men of the East were mature men, wise for the time dedicated to know God; each one of us has to walk a path that will give us wisdom and knowledge of God and on the way we will present offerings or riches that are important that we divest ourselves of them and give them to the Lord.

As our King, we recognize his greatness and we prostrate ourselves as a sign of gratitude for having found us. The three wise men were able to meet Jesus thanks to the signs and knowledge that God sent them. In the same way Jesus met you, you are important to Him, for Jesus you are the GIFT!

Happy Wise men day!

God bless you!
