Last Sunday, May 1st, the first service of our church was held. It has been a great challenge, but the Lord has worked in many ways to make it a reality.

Iglesia Familiar Unidos en Cristo is the result of a group of men and women with a willing heart, which began several years ago in Quito, Ecuador, and then moved to Cali, Colombia for different circumstances. My family has been part of this group for about nine years. We can testify how wonderful it is to live and grow spiritually hand in hand with God in community.

Churches are very important, it is where the children of God congregate. But beyond the structure, the temple is nothing more than stone and cement if it has no one to fill it.

"You are therefore the body of Christ, and members in particular" 1 Corinthians 12:27.

The church is the body of Christ, we are the body of Christ, each one contributing his gifts, supporting one another, in good times and in bad, in all circumstances.

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them" S. Matthew 18:20.

So, the first church is our home, it is our family. The true church is not the one on Sundays, the true church is us, every day praying as a family, supporting each other regardless of the circumstances. If one of us makes a mistake, the other is there to help him get up, correct and continue.

Since Adam and Eve, the enemy, the devil, satan or whatever you want to call him, has tried to divide God's creation, the family. The enemy has sought to get into families and somehow damage God's perfect creation so that it will not fulfill its purpose, to live and carry the word of God everywhere, in perfect unity and holiness in the service of God.

"And let us consider one another, that we may stir up one another to love and good works; not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" Hebrews 10:24-25.

Each one of us is an important part of God's creation, the church is all of us; we are the missing piece to form a church united in God's love.

Let us live fully as a family, let us live together the love that Christ taught us. Let us hold hands when we sit at the table, let us bless the food together, let us embrace each other every day when we wake up and at the end of the day, let us pray for each other on every occasion; this way, we will live the love of God to the full in our homes as the body of Christ, as his church.
