Since we were little we have goals, even without knowing it, we live them and we achieve them: stop drinking breast milk, crawl, walk, use the bathroom, eat alone, get dressed alone, go to elementary school, etc; and so on to the big goals of studies, work, get married, have children, among many others.
Some have achieved them, others are in process, others are in the process of defining them. All of them are important and reaching them will determine many things in your life, but what they can't determine is your peace, your joy, your happiness.
"Until I achieve this or that, I will not be happy", "When I finish this, I will be really happy". These are phrases that we hear on a regular basis. This is when I ask you: Do you have to wait to reach those goals to be happy? What limits you to have joy and peace at this moment?
Achieving goals gives us great pleasure, happiness, but this feeling passes quickly. What to do to make it last?
"I take great delight in the Lord; I rejoice in my God. For he has clothed me with the garments of salvation and covered me with the robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom wearing his diadem, or a bride adorned with her jewels." Isaiah 61:10
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you" S. Matthew 6:33.
The true goal is Christ. It does not mean that studying, having children, work are not important, of course they are; but those goals will not give you the happiness, joy, peace that life in Christ gives you.
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:7.
Now you know what the real goal is, set your eyes on God, on the one who can do all things, achieves all things and will do all things for you. Don't be fooled by goals that end up on a piece of paper or hanging in a picture; follow the one who will give and give abundantly, because He is God, the all powerful one. The goal is Him!
God bless you!
