Where is placed your hope?

When we are in a time of crisis, we are constantly looking for a way out of it. We resort to the most obvious answer or the one that seems to be the best.

My country, Colombia, has been in a national strike for two weeks, which has pushed many people to the limit. There has been a shortage of food, gasoline, public transportation stopped, jobs closed, there is no way to leave the city easily and there were days when the airport was closed. The nonconformist situation led ordinary people to clash with protesters, resulting in destruction of property, cars and people injured or killed.

"Avenge not yourselves, my beloved, but rather give place to the wrath of God: for it is written, Vengeance is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord" Romans 12:19.

God with words of love, fatherly love, tells us that He will take care, that He will apply "The wrath of God". All those who do evil in all this, will see the weight of God's law fall upon them; this is not for our pride, neither is it our hope, this is the law; so, what should be our hope?

"So, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for in so doing, you will heap burning coals on his head" Romans 12:20.

We are called to serve in some way to those who are against us, not only to fulfill the law, but because, in that act of charity and love we can sow the seed for salvation.

"You are the salt and light of the world" Matthew 5:13-14.

Our hope is that the Lord will use us as a tool of salvation for those who are lost in the chaos. Modern management masters and great thinkers have said "Out of crises always come great opportunities". It is in this time of crisis that we have the opportunity to let Christ be seen in our lives and be light and salt for the world.

Let us not be satisfied with calling ourselves Christians, Catholics or believers, but let Christ be truly seen in our hearts. Christ came to relate to pagans, prostitutes, tax collectors, thieves, murderers so that they may have eternal life. We cannot be satisfied with just giving word to the one who is already converted; we have to, somehow in our closest circles, WhatsApp groups, family, friends, companions, bring the word of God with love, so that they also put their eyes on Him.

So today I invite you, in this test, or other tests to come, let Christ be seen in your heart, giving word of love and faith in our father. Repeat tirelessly that Christ is our savior, that he died for us to give us peace in our hearts and eternal life.

God bless you!
