Who hasn't changed or been present when someone asks for a dish to be changed in a restaurant? The last time I saw it was because the taste of the meat that was served was not pleasant, apparently it was over seasoned. The waiter very politely removed the dish and as soon as possible brought the new dish.
Not being satisfied is a characteristic of human beings that is reflected in history. Technological developments, inventions, travel to outer space, even wars have been started by non-conformist men and women.
I walk on foot, I would like to walk faster and all means of transportation have been developed. Women want to look more attractive, all beauty products were invented. I don't like long hair, there are hairdressers. And so, from a nonconformity, a solution was invented to solve it.
Are we nonconformist in everything?: "I am like this, all my family is like this", "If you know how I am, why do you bring me here", "If I don't go out at least once a week I get depressed", "Leave him/her alone, don't tell him/her anything or he/she will get angry, he/she is like that".
"As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which you had in your ignorance; but as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all your conduct" 1Peter 1:14-15.
Nonconformity must be applied to our whole being, not just the evident; we must question if what we are doing is right or if we can be better, and the best way to achieve this is by asking others. We live in community, we have a family, they are the mirror to know it. I took a risk one day and asked my children: Am I a good parent? What mistakes do I usually make? What do you think I could do better? The answers were so revealing and challenging that I asked my children and my wife to keep doing it.
We all have a calling, a responsibility and it is not optional. We have conformed to this world where going out alone, drinking to levels where we stop being us, being in places or doing activities that take us away from our family is the norm.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God" Romans 12:2.
We doubt, we can't imagine that we can be better, we have conformed, then we do not really believe that we are in the hand of the Almighty.
God is not for decoration or to simply pray to Him; He and His word are there to transform our lives to levels that we do not know completely, but it is necessary to believe, read His word, pray and fast, and He, the Almighty, will do the miracle.
Do not be conformed, believe, and you will see things you have not seen (1 Cor 2:9) and great things will be revealed to you that you have not known (Jeremiah 33:3), and you will be a new person (Isaiah 43:19).
God bless you!
