Last night, after finishing our weekly Bible study meeting, I was called to help pull out a car that, leaving the house, got stuck in the mud. It has been raining a lot these days so the big, heavy truck got stuck in the grass.
Immediately everyone did their part. Some pushed, others read the manual of the car to activate the four-wheel drive, others put sticks under the tire, others brought their car closer to try to pull it out with a rope.....nothing, the big truck remained immobile. It was time to call a tow truck.
As we waited, I told them that it was frustrating not to have been able to get it out despite the experience of some and the desire to help of others. Finally the tow truck arrived, pulled the truck out, and confident that it was the problem of where it got stuck, I moved the truck and it got stuck again. The tow truck man, obviously annoyed, had to go through the operation again until he finally got it completely out.
Interestingly, that night we were talking about control and the fear and anguish of losing it. We want to be in control of everything, but there comes moments that show that not everything is under our control.
Many come to help us, others give advice, others give opinions, others just watch helplessly waiting for something to happen, and when we think we are in control, we go back and fall and we are in the same place, until we give up and say to our great crane, the all-powerful one, "Get me out of here"
"Those who live in the shelter of the Most High shall find rest in the shadow of the Almighty" Psalms 91:1.
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and puts his trust in him. He shall be like a tree planted by the water, spreading out its roots toward the stream; it does not fear the coming of heat, and its leaves are ever green. In times of drought it is not distressed, and never ceases to bear fruit" Jeremiah 17:7-8.
Last night, when there was nothing else to do, the truck was left alone waiting for the tow truck to pull it out. How similar are our struggles. Tired of trying every way, inviting friends to help us, giving their opinion until we finally give up and ask our father to help us and take over.
The crane was all the time waiting to be called, how much longer are we going to wait to call God to take control of our lives and let Him be the one to direct it so we don't fall back into the mud.
Give the keys of your life to the Lord, He is the all powerful, the one who can do everything, He will take you to green fields where you will lack nothing, and you will not get stuck again.
God bless you!
