The title of this blog may seem cliché, like the title of a heartbreak song, a self-help book, or a social media post, but really, LOVE HEALS EVERYTHING.
First of all, love is not what is written in poems or princess movies, nor the songs of Chayanne, Arjona, Montaner, or Hombres G. Butterflies in the stomach, lack of appetite, and uncontrollable desires to be with that special person or to drink when you fight are not love either. All these emotions are just that, emotions, feelings, reflexes of our senses in response to a stimulus. We have a mistaken conception of love.
According to some definitions, to love is "a feeling towards another person that naturally attracts us and, seeking reciprocity in the desire for union, completes us, makes us happy, and gives us energy to live together, communicate, and create." And according to its etymological origin in Hebrew, the word love comes from "ahavah" which means to give.
So we could say that to love is the firm intention and desire to give everything to another person, reciprocally so that they complete us, make us happy, and give us energy to live.
On paper, it looks easy, but in practice, not so much, because we give our hearts to those who surely will not reciprocate, and we end up hurt. What can we do if we have been deeply hurt or if we have gravely hurt someone else?
This question is common in counseling; it appears after presenting the facts, words, or omissions that caused so much pain. That is why it is necessary to go to the source:
"He who does not love does not know God; for God is love." - 1 John 4:8
"Jesus answered and said to him, 'If anyone loves me, he will keep my word; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him." - John 14:23
"Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth." - Jeremiah 33:6
Loving God and feeling His love requires us to connect with Him and live a relationship, not a religion. It is necessary to know the word, the Bible, to pray, and God will place it in our hearts.
"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." - Proverbs 4:23
With His word in our hearts and putting it into practice, we will live true love in our lives. What heals is the love of God within us.
A relationship with God is eternal, timeless, so it takes time and happens in His time, but it bears fruit that gives us peace, joy, happiness, patience, tranquility. And when God heals our hearts, we can heal our relationships with others.
I can't tell you more because I would be telling you about my experience with God; I invite you to develop a pure and true love with God and live your own unique experience of feeling God's love in your life.
God bless you!
