I only know that I know nothing

Have you ever heard the phrase "I only know that I know nothing"? There are several interpretations of this phrase such as: I have yet to learn, I thought I knew everything, no one can know everything. All of them are accurate but there is an interpretation that I like much more "Everything I think I know, I really don't know".

One of the most common mistakes in the Christian life is to believe that we already know everything.

Some years ago someone told me "You have to work on being the best version of yourself". Very nice, of course, but how can we know that we are the best version of ourselves?

In the foundations, when I talk to the inmates about their problems and what led them to the streets and to drugs, I try to accompany them in discovering what has led them to consume, because the problem is not consuming, the real problem is that they have inside their heart of unhappiness, fear, resentment, etc., that led them to consume. Likewise, those who drink and "have" to go from party to party, what is the need, what leads them to say "it is normal"?

When we manage to discover what it is that leads to this behavior, then we realize that we have to unlearn, we have been taught, we have been programmed wrong.

Men regularly ask me, "So you don't drink anymore, you don't have sex anymore? I don't know how they draw those conclusions from, but I always answer them the same thing "Of course I do, even Jesus drank wine" and sex, I'm married, it's implicit that if..... But no longer in the way I did before, no longer with the same intention, no longer with the "need" for both, because my joy is in Christ.

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; The foolish despise wisdom and instruction" Proverbs 1:7.

We think we know everything, but what we really know is that our bodies want to be satiated and we have discovered many, many ways to do it; but we do not know that the spirit that lives in us needs God, because we were made in his image and likeness, we are his workmanship.

The fear of God is not to be afraid of Him, the true fear is to recognize that He is the truth, I know nothing and without Him I am nothing. My own wisdom leads me to make mistakes and to move away from his promises: happiness, joy, peace, patience, etc. That is why I immerse myself in His word, His teachings which are full of life "...and life in abundance..." John 10:10.

Hard these words, Glory to God, means that we have much to unlearn and much to learn, the good thing is that we have the best teacher, the Lord of lords, Jesus Christ.

Read the word, discuss its content, search your heart, ask God to reveal what He wants you to improve, change and learn, He listens to you and He responds.

God bless you!
