As yourself

No parent is born a learned parent and it is only when we have a child that we receive the title of parents. This is why parents make mistakes out of love in the upbringing of their children. What does it mean to make mistakes out of love?

The book "The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapman, details and analyzes five different languages we have. Everyone has a love language that identifies them, that nurtures them emotionally, physically, psychologically and spiritually. This means that both parents and children can have different love languages.

The five languages are: words of affirmation, quality time, physical contact, gifts and acts of service. Each with different characteristics and forms of expression.

So imagine a house inhabited by people with different love languages, expressions and personalities. Each one expresses and perceives according to their language, this makes communication complex, and there may not be a fluid communication that nurtures the relationship, but rather pushes it away. The lack of being able to communicate may be due to the fact that one speaks and expresses to the other in his/her language, a language that the other does not understand and comments such as "I don't understand you", "Who understands you", "Let's stop there because we are not going to get anywhere".

How do we then communicate with each other and achieve a healthy coexistence?

"Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He that loveth not knoweth not God: for God is love. In this the love of God was shown toward us, that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another......... In love there is no fear; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has its own punishment. Therefore he who fears has not been made perfect in love" 1 John 4:7-11, 18.

To be able to speak with love it is necessary to go to the source, God. Men and women are afraid, afraid to open up completely, afraid of being hurt, ashamed, humiliated; Christ did that and was hurt, ashamed, humiliated, showing us the only right way to love, to give everything without fear of anything.

Experience love in your life starting with love for God, then love for you and you will be able to fulfill what Christ left us "...love your neighbor AS YOURSELF."

God bless you!
