It will be four months since Edgar entered the foundation. In the blog In Practice, we share the moment that Edgar decided to enter the foundation and leave the streets where he used drugs and was killing him self.
Married and with two beautiful daughters, he regrets and hurts for all the damage he has done to his family. He does not understand how he could get to that point where he knew he was hurting but did not have the strength to get away from drugs for good. Step by step, and without understanding how, he ended up living on the streets.
In tears he cried out, "Lord help me, I don't want this life anymore! - He had just been baptized. On the way to the foundation I asked him - What do you want the Lord to transform in you? - He answered - I ask him to give me the character to be able to say no! -
"Remember not the former things, neither bring to remembrance the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; soon it will come to light; will you not know it? Again I will make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43:18-19
The Lord will do the work in him but he must have faith; faith that He will make everything new in his life, and even though he has done so much damage He has the power to rebuild his whole life. He told me that he did not believe because the damage to his family was so big and that he had not spoken to his daughters for many years; that he knew he would never speak to them again (he told me this in tears). The enemy wants to steal our faith.
The damage we have done, the sin we have committed is so great that we may think that we do not deserve love, forgiveness, or even a word from those we have hurt, or from anyone, out of shame.
"But God demonstrates his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8.
Christ has already paid for our sins, we are new creatures because everything is left behind; in return he asks us to follow him, recognizing that the cross was the way to our redemption and his commands the guide to a new life.
We recently experienced one of the most beautiful and moving moments in Edgar's journey. His daughters sent him a letter telling him that they were proud of him, that they loved him and that they were looking forward to seeing him as a new man, a man of Christ.
Thank you Lord for such a beautiful work, what you are doing in Edgar, what you are doing in each one of us, what you are doing in our families. Our prayers are for us, men and women who need you to have a new life, a new life in Jesus Christ.
God bless you!
